Over the past few months, I have noticed everyone talking about Snapchat Planets. However, most of them do not know what it is, its usage, or the information you can obtain from it. If you also don’t know about it, don’t worry – I am here to help you.

In this article, I have explained everything about Snapchat Plus Planets in the best possible and easiest manner. At the end of this article, there is a section on FAQs. If you don’t have much time to read the whole article, just go through it, and you will get the basic information. But if you want to know about every single detail of Snapchat Planets, then keep reading this article.

What is the Meaning of Snapchat Planets?

Snapchat Planets is a system that represents you as a planet in your friend’s profile based on streaks and interaction. There are a total of 8 planets in our solar system, same as in it, there are 8 planets that represent your top 8 best friends. If you and your friend are in each other’s Snap solar system, you will see a best friend badge on your friend’s profile.

If you didn’t understand it, then recall your science class, in which your teacher taught you about our Solar System, and recall an image of it in your mind. I hope you have successfully recalled it. To understand Snapchat Planets Solar System deeply, imagine yourself as the Sun and your friends as Planets.

As you already know, Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun in the real solar system. In the same way, on Snapchat+, if you are represented as Mercury in your friend’s profile, it means that your friend chats with you the most. In other words, it means your friend interacts with you the most and has the longest streak with you.

Each planet in our Solar System is positioned at a different distance from the sun; similarly, your Bitmoji will be assigned a planet based on how frequently you both interact with each other.

It must be noted that the position differs from friend to friend. For example, in one’s friend profile, you may be the Mercury, and in another’s, you are the Earth.

Some websites that have written articles on Snap Planets have confused users by saying that it is literally a numerical ranking, but this is not true. On 5 April 2024, Snapchat clarified that the friend solar system is not a competitive ranking system; a user can only check his position in his friend’s profile; he can’t see the other person’s ranking.

Snapchat Planets Order in Detail

The order of the Snapchat Planets is as follows –

  • Mercury
  • Venus
  • Earth
  • Mars
  • Jupiter
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Neptune

Now, let’s learn about each planet in detail.

Snapchat-Planet-in-Order

Mercury – Your 1st Best Friend

Snapchat-Planets-First-Planet-MERCURY

Mercury is the first planet in the solar system, the same as in Snapchat+; it represents your closest friend with whom you chat the most. It is shown as a faded red color with 5 hearts and two little stars around it, as shown in the image.

Venus – Your 2nd Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-2nd-Planet-Venus

Venus represents your 2nd best friend on the list. With this person, you have interacted the 2nd most. As you can see in the image above, Venus is represented in yellow-white color with different colors of hearts; it looks really good.

Earth – Your 3rd Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-3rd-Planet-Earth

The third one is our Earth; it represents the 3rd best friend. I do not know why I love this position. The main reason behind it that I can think of is that the bitmoji of Earth is very beautiful; with the blue and green colors, it looks fabulous. It also has a moon in the background.

Mars – Your 4th Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-4th-Planet-Mars

Mars represents your 4th best friend. With the fired red color and purple hearts, it also looks very nice. If you are Mars to someone, do not be sad because at least you have a nice bitmoji to represent yourself.

Jupiter – Your 5th Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-5th-Planet-Jupiter

Jupiter represents your 5th best friend. It does not look good so much, but we can say it is decent in appearance. But if you are Jupiter to someone in their Snapchat Planets Solar system, do not worry; you are the biggest one.

Saturn – Your 6th Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-6th-Planet-Saturn

On the number 6th, there is Saturn, which shows your 6th best friend on the list. With a ring around it, Saturn looks fabulous. I don’t know why there is no heart around it, as it is one of the most beautiful planets in our solar system.

Uranus – Your 7th Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-7th-Planet-Uranus

Uranus represents your 7th best friend on the list. One thing that I like about it is its color. Uranus’s color is the most charming and unique among all the Snapchat Planets. I just love it.

Neptune – Your 8th Best Friend

Snapchat-Planet-8th-Planet-Neptune

Neptune is the 8th planet in the Snapchat Planets system, and it is also the last planet in our solar system. It is blue in color and has 3 stars around it. If you are Neptune to someone, do not worry. You are the 8th most important person in your friend’s Snapchat friends.

What is The Purpose Of Snapchat Planets?

The main reason for introducing the Friend Solar System feature is to give users a unique way to understand their friendship levels. For example, if you are represented as Mars in your friend’s profile, then you are his 4th best friend.

Every social media app wants users to interact with each other as much as possible, and the best way to achieve this is by making interaction fun. Snapchat has done a good job with this because users like Snap Planets very much.

How Does Snapchat Planets System Work?

Snapchat Planets - How This System Really Works

The Snapchat Planets system is based on the user’s interaction with their friends. However, you must subscribe to the Snapchat+ subscription to enjoy this feature. If you are still confused and don’t understand the workings of this system, then consider the below example –

For instance, consider yourself as A with friends X, L, and G. X has shared 7800 snaps with you, 6500 snaps with L, and 5500 snaps with G. So, based on the above data, in X’s Snapchat Friends’ Solar System, ‘You’ will be Mercury, ‘L’ will be Venus, and ‘G’ will be Earth.

How to Find Your Position in a Friend’s Profile?

One thing that I like the most about this feature is that you can check your friend’s profile to see whether he is your best friend or not. To check your position in your friend’s Snapchat Planets systems, follow the following steps –

How-To-Check-Snapchat-Planets-Ranking
  • Firstly, take out your phone and open Snapchat on it.
  • After that, open your Snapchat Friends list.
  • Now, from your friend’s list, tap on that friend’s profile.
  • If you see “Best Friends” written under your friend’s name, along with an emoji and a golden ring, it means you both are ranked in each other’s Friend Solar System.
  • However, you may see the Friend badge only; it signifies that you have been assigned a planet in your friend’s solar system, but he does not hold a position in your solar system.
  • Now, to see which planet is assigned to you, click on that badge.
  • Now, you can see your planet; for example, if you see your Bitmoji sitting on the red planet, then you are his 4th best friend.

That is how you can find your place in your friend’s Snapchat Planets System.

How to Increase Your Snapchat Planets Ranking?

Tips-To-Boost-Snapchat-Planets-Ranking

If you want to improve your ranking in the Snap Planets system, then do not worry; it is possible. As I told you earlier, this system is totally based on the interaction between the user and his friends, so the person with whom he interacts the most will be his best friend, i.e., Mercury.

So, to improve the ranking, you can follow the following tips –

Send Snaps Regularly

This is the most effective method to boost your rankings; first, select the friend in whose solar system you want to rank higher, then start sending snaps to him regularly and maintain a streak with him.

Chat Regularly

The second step you can take is to chat with that friend regularly because the only thing that matters is interaction; the more you interact, the higher your position in the Snapchat Planets system.

Why is Snapchat Planets System A Controversial Feature?

Why-is-Snapchat-Planets-System-A-Controversial-Feature-thumbnail

It’s been more than a year since the launch of the Friends solar system on Snapchat, and there is no doubt that it is loved by most users. However, it is also criticized on the basis of having a bad impact on young users, who only purchase the Plus subscription to know about their position in their friends’ best friend list.

Well, as per the research done by WSJ – it has been found that many users feel sad after knowing that they are not on their friend’s best friend list. So a lot of articles have been published criticizing this feature, but recently, as per the article published on Newsroom, some changes have been made, and I think it should put an end to these controversies.

Knowing about your position in your friend’s BSF list is a good thing because you get to know about your position in someone’s social life; well, we all know it is not a numerical ranking. It is often seen that many people’s social media friends and real-life friends are different. So there is no need to be sad over a thing that I am not in the first position; maybe your friend already shared with you that incident that he shared on Snapchat with the other friend. That is why he is the mercury, and you are the Venus.

So, there are endless possibilities. Always think clearly, and don’t let yourself be misled by any social media news. Snapchat Planets is a good feature; 99.99% of users like it.

Many users think that Snapchat Planets is gone, but this is not true; it is only demoted.

How to Enable Snapchat Solar System?

Due to a lot of criticism, Snapchat disabled the friend solar system by default. So, after purchasing the Plus subscription, you have another task of manually turning on this feature. But you do not have to worry; it is very easy to do; follow the below steps –

  • Open the App.
  • Tap on your profile icon, which I pointed out, with an arrow in the image below.
  • Below your profile name, there is a Snapchat+ section; tap on that.
snapchat-planets-system-enable-1
  • Now you will get a lot of options that are only available for Plus users; scroll a little bit till “Solar System” is shown.
  • Below the “Solar System” option, there is a toggle button; tap on that to turn it on.
  • A pop-up will appear as shown in the image below; select “okay.”

In the same way, you can also disable the Snapchat Planets system.

How to Disable Friend Solar System?

Snapchat disabled the Friend solar system for a reason. I have already explained the reason behind it, so if, after enabling this system, you think it is causing mental stress or affecting your relationship, then it is better for you to disable it.

Disable-Snapchat-Planets-System-Step-1-and-2
  • First, open your Profile on Snapchat.
  • Now, on the second number below your name, you will find the Snapchat+ option; click on this option.
  • Now, you will find all the perks that are offered by the Snapchat+ subscription; scroll down a little, and you will find the Solar System Option.
  • Tap on its button to hide this system.

Difference Between Extended Best Friend List & Snapchat Planets

The real problem with the friend solar system is that you can check only your position, not the other person’s, and it includes only the top 8 best friends. So, for the premium members, an exclusive feature called Extended Best Friend List was introduced; in this list, you can see your top 16 best friends.

You can even check the change in the position of your friends in the list.

For example – Last time when you checked the extended best friend list, your friend Jacob was on the 5th number, and after some days, you checked it again; if there is some change in the ranking, you will see that. You can easily find which friend has moved up or down in the ranking.

What is Snapchat+?

What-is-Snapchat+-and-why-was-it-introduced?

Snapchat+ was introduced in July 2022; the company suffered from great losses at that time, so to get more out of it, it introduced a Snapchat Plus subscription. It costs you $3.99 per month. There are many benefits of it, some of them are as follows –

  • You can pin your Best Friend as the #1 BFF.
  • If someone has rewatched your stories, you can find that also.
  • You can set custom app icons (The store is updated from time to time, and it has really cool icons.)
  • You can set custom chat backgrounds.
  • A Snapchat+ badge will also appear on your profile when someone opens your profile.
  • You can also set custom Notification sounds.
  • You can use the app in Dark Mode on Android devices.
  • You can use AI Tools like – AI Captions and AI Snaps.
  • You can reply to a snap sent by your friend twice.
  • You will get one free streak restore pass every month.
  • I have explained just a few Snapchat+ benefits; read the “What is Snapchat+” article to know all the benefits.

How to Get a Snapchat+ Subscription?

As I told you earlier, this feature is not available for free. You must have a Snapchat Plus subscription. If you do not know how to get the subscription, do not worry; I am here to help you. Just follow the following steps –

  • Open the Snapchat app.
  • Open the profile section by tapping on your profile’s avatar.
  • There, you will find a Snapchat+ banner card; tap on it, or if you don’t see any such card, tap on the settings icon, and at the top, you will find a banner card to join Snapchat+.
  • There are three plans available – One Month, 6 Months, and 1 year.
  • Select your plan and tap on Start Free Trial.
  • Now, enter your payment details and submit.
  • Now close the app and restart it; you should be able to use all the plus benefits.

In this way, you can get a Snapchat+ subscription. One thing that I like the most is its free trial option because it gives us an idea of whether we should subscribe to it or not. If you like all the features, then you can pay the amount after 7 days; if not, you have the option to cancel the subscription.

Snapchat Planets system is no longer a default feature that automatically turns on when you purchase a Plus subscription. Now, it is only an opt-in feature, and after purchasing the subscription, you have to manually turn on the Snapchat Planets system. Please read this article to learn why the company made it an opt-in feature.
